Status Updates
5.27.2025 - the Floyd County Board of Commissioners approved additional funds for the purchase of a Kubota SVI.97-2HF from Nelson Tractor Company. This requires an increase of $6,260. The purchase was approved in the April 22, 2025 Board of Commissioners meeting. However, when the item was delivered it was the open cab version of the compact tractor. This increase is to purchase the closed cab version of the model.
5.13.2025 - the Floyd County Board of Commissioners approved a request from Purchasing to purchase (1) Freightliner Chassis or Equal w/Flatbed & Trailer for Floyd County Public Works Department from Peach State Truck Center LLC for $147,015.
4.22.2025 - the Floyd County Board of Commissioners approved:
- bid #25-014 for the purchase of (1) John Deere 331G Compact Track Loader or equal to Nelson Tractor Company for Public Works. The cost of this equipment will be paid from 2023 SPLOST in the amount of $67,785.00. This amount includes the amount needed for the harness for the Bradco Cold Planer attachment. This line is budgeted for $100,000, no change to the budget is needed. This would be a savings of $32,215.00.
- a quote for a Four Post Vehicle Lift for Public Works from Myers Industries dba Myers Tire Supply in the amount of $17,200. Purchase includes installation and training. The budgeted amount for this line item is $20,000, which is a savings of $2,800.
4.8.2025 - the Floyd County Board of Commissioners approved a request from Purchasing to purchase an Etnyre Bituminous Distributor (Asphalt Truck) for Public Works from Tractor & Equipment Co. in the amount of $295,325 using funds from 2023 SPLOST. This vendor submitted the most responsive bid, however it was not the lowest bid submitted.
3.11.2025 - the Floyd County Board of Commissioners approved to award bid # 25-011 Mid-Size Hydraulic Excavator & Rotator Head to Jasper Tractor for Public Works in the amount of $225,345.00 using 2023 SPLOST funds. This vendor was the lowest responsible bid that met all specifications. This item was approved for purchase in 2024 for $210,000 and was rolled over to 2025. This will require a budget increase in the amount of $15,145.00.
11.12.2024 - the Floyd County Board of Commissioners approved the purchase of a milling machine from the City of Rome for $75,000. This will require a budget increase of $75,000.
10.8.2024 - the Floyd County Board of Commissioners approved the purchase of one (1) Mid-Size Hydraulic Excavator & Rotator Head from Cobb County Tractor Co. Inc., for Public Works in the amount of $210,100. A budget increase in the amount of $7,200 will be needed to cover the purchase. This vendor was not the lowest price, however, it was responsive and the second lowest.
9.24.2024 - the Floyd County Board of Commissioners approved the purchase of one (1) New Forestry Bucket Truck from Custom Truck One Source for Public Works in the amount of $197,100. Although not the lowest bid submitted, this vendor submitted a bid that was responsive, second lowest pricing and quickest delivery time.
