Floyd County 4-H Wins Big at District Competition

Local 4-H Members compete and win big in Earth and Space Science, Paleontology, and Wildlife categories.

On Saturday, February 21, 2026, Floyd County 4-H hosted the county’s largest 4-H youth public speaking event, the Northwest Georgia Cloverleaf (Grades 4–6) District Project Achievement, at Chattooga High School. Students presented speeches, prepared foods, or participated in performing arts categories related to topics of special interest to them. After the projects were presented and scores were calculated, students were recognized at the Northwest District 4-H Awards Presentation.

The event included 286 youth competitors from nine different counties. Floyd County 4-H received two district awards: “Most Participants” and “Highest Percentage of Winners.”

4-H Project Achievement allows youth, beginning in 4th grade and continuing through 12th grade, the opportunity to explore an area of interest and share their knowledge through a competitive process. Projects are offered in more than 50 different areas, covering nearly every topic of interest or educational field available for exploration and presentation. Once a project area is selected, youth research and develop a presentation, along with visual aids, to present before a panel of judges.

This year’s competitors will also be recognized at their school’s awards banquet to be held at a later date.
