Status Updates
10.21.2025 - HVAC and window replacement delayed until asbestos and lead paint abatement completed when building is not occupied.
10.14.2025 - the Floyd County Board of Commissioners approved a proposal from Sizemore Group for courtroom audio visual design and telecom services associated with the former law enforcement center in the amount of $56,810.00.
Paint, brickwork and pointing, downspouts/gutters for the historic courthouse are out for bid. Bid opening is October 28.
City has vacated evidence room of law enforcement center. Staff has met with Probate and Magistrate Courts. Test fit for 1st floor still in discussion phase. Floor plans for 2nd and 3rd floor are ready for bid December 10.
9.23.2025 - the Floyd County Board of Commissioners approved a request for renovations totaling $63,000.00 at the Floyd County Police Department, formerly Glenwood School.
8.26.2025 - the Floyd County Board of Commissioners approved a Law Enforcement Center service proposal from Sizemore Group in the amount of $462,000. No change to the budget needed at this time. The proposal includes a summary of requested services:
- LEC 2nd + 3rd floor partial renovation
- 2nd + 3rd floor partial renovation - low voltage (security camera, key card access)
- 1st floor interior renovation (phase 2), including low voltage
- Boundary, topographic, + utility survey
- Interior signage
- Sallyport design - pending site survey
- AV services (courtrooms)
8.12.2025 - Final scope has been received by architect. Brick pointing, painting, gutters, and down spouts scheduled to be out for bid no later than October 7. Any and all remediation on pause until building is not occupied.
6.24.2025 - the Floyd County Board of Commissioners approved a transfer of $66,505.00 approved in the 2024 to the 2025 budget for the Glenwood FCPD project to fund an upgrade of the sprinkler system as well as purchase twenty-two (22) fire extinguishers for the building from ASA Fire Protection, LLC. The funds were budgeting in 2024, but were not transferred to the 2025 budget for this project.
4.8.2025 - Final review on bid documents for windows, brick, and gutters including abatement. Bid package should be out in May 2025.
3.11.2025 - the Floyd County Board of Commissioners approved a change order submitted by Pennant Construction Management, Inc. for the Glenwood Renovation Project in the amount of $40,340.00. This will require an increase to the budget for this account to cover this change order.
1.28.2025 - the Floyd County Board of Commissioners approved:
- the purchase and installation of network switches from Logical Systems for phones and internet for the Glenwood FCPD Project in the amount of $23,420.00. This is a local vendor who supplies network systems for the County in several of our current buildings and was the only quote submitted. This will require an increase of $23,420.00 to the current budget.
- the ratification of the purchase and installation of unexpected insulation for the Glenwood FCPD Project in the amount of $8,300.00.
12.10.2024 - the Floyd County Board of Commissioners approved Chapman Workspace for the furniture package for the Glenwood FCPD project in the amount of $103,450 using 2017 SPLOST funds. This saves time by utilizing state contract pricing and will help us meet our estimated move in date.
7.23.2024 - the Floyd County Board of Commissioners approved an AIA contract with E Dunay Design for renovations of Historic Courthouse exterior. This proposal was approved at the last Commission meeting and is included in the 2024 budget.
7.9.2024 - the Floyd County Board of Commissioners approved a proposal for Historic Courthouse exterior renovations from E Dunay Design in the amount of $56,800.00. This was included in the original budget.
1.30.2024 - Interviews with prospective architectural firms are scheduled for February 1, 2024.
11.17.2023 - Architectural proposals were received in September 2023 with limited participation. Purchasing has resubmitted Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and have three (3) potential proposals. Plans are to award architectural in early 2024 and begin construction late 2024.
3.2023 - Roof replaced.
2.28.2023 - the Floyd County Board of Commissioners approved Midian Roofing for consulting services at the Historic Courthouse in the amount of $5,000.00.
